An Operating System is the software that interacts with the hardware of a computer system and is the intermediary between applications and the hardware, which includes peripheral devices such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transfers requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the contact is done through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). A lot like a personal computer, hosting servers also have an Operating System that functions as a host for all the software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, etc. A virtual machine can be generated on a physical one, so you could install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment compared to the physical server host OS.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
Our VPS server packages feature three Linux releases which you may choose from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being free, the OSs are really stable and safe and the key reason to offer you the 3 of them is to make sure that you will be able to run each application that you would like, because different pieces of software could have different requirements with regards to the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is supported by a vast community of web developers who have produced thousands of software packages that you can set up and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System which you pick, you will also be able to choose between three different Control Panels to take care of your website hosting content. Needless to say, in case you decide that you need a different OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for optimum stability and security.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
In case you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page as we want to give you a larger choice with regard to the system environment on the server as different applications can have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and take advantage of a reliable and risk-free web hosting service. Based on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you have selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also update the OS routinely to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
